Dressed for Dinner
The fit and the feast
It’s been a minute since I’ve last shared a Pairings post, combining two of the subjects I love most: a goûter and garde-robe moment. This French edition features Proustian bites from Louroc in Cap D’Antibes to Le Duc on Rive Gauche. I promise I had many humble meals, but a bowl of cottage cheese just wasn’t enough to get me out of pajamas!
Fashion and food often feels like they occupy the same part of my brain. I’m drawn to them for a sense of seasonality and place. Styling a crisp button down over a swim suit evokes summer, and the sensation can feel as satisfying as the first bite of tomato. A lot of tomatos were devoured this summer. From a savory tomate farcis, a juicy tomate confit, a flakey tarte aux tomates, or my favorite: a simple jus de tomate and Fenocchio’s basil et tomate sorbet.
Here are a few of fashion x food pairings.
